Khalid bin Al-Waleed (R) The Sword of Allah

Khalid bin Al-Waleed رضي الله عنه is the hero of Islam who never lost a battle. Not one — and he fought a great many, against far larger armies, in unfamiliar country.

He began on the other side. It was Khalid whose cavalry charge turned the Battle of Uhud against the Muslims, before he accepted Islam and the Prophet ﷺ gave him the title Sayfullah, the Sword of Allah.

After the Prophet ﷺ died he led the campaigns against the apostates, defeating Musailamah Al-Kadhdhab — the Liar — and restoring peace and order across the Arabian Peninsula. Then he devised the military tactics that, by Allah's help, defeated the enormous Roman army with a fraction of its numbers.

He was hard on his enemies and gentle with his brothers in faith. When he died, 'Umar bin Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه wept and said: "Women will never give birth to one like you."
