Talhah bin Ubaidullah (R) The Living Martyr

Talhah bin 'Ubaidullah رضي الله عنه is one of the greatest heroes of Islam. Every tribe inside Makkah and beyond it knew how chaste and pious he was, before there was any question of religion between them.

When he embraced Islam he became a shield for the weak and oppressed, protecting so many families that the Prophet ﷺ called him the example of benevolence. He was famous for a generosity that left him with nothing at the end of a day.

At the Battle of Uhud, when the Muslims broke and the Prophet ﷺ was exposed, Talhah stood over him and took the arrows on his own hand until it was crippled. The Prophet ﷺ said afterwards that whoever wished to see a martyr walking on the face of the earth should look at Talhah — which is where this book's title comes from.

He was one of the ten given the glad tidings of Paradise, and told he would be the Prophet's ﷺ neighbor there.
