Abdullah bin Umar (R) The Jurist

Some children had the extraordinary fortune of growing up in Madinah while the Prophet ﷺ was alive. They watched Islam take root from its first days and were given strong faith at an age when most people are still learning to read.

Abdullah bin 'Umar رضي الله عنهما was one of them. He stayed close to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and paid close attention — not only to what he said, but to how he did things: which foot first, which words at which moment, which route he took. He remembered it all, and he was famous afterwards for imitating it exactly.

That attention turned him into a scholar of the first rank, even among the Companions, and people came to him with their questions for decades after the Prophet ﷺ had died. He was known too for his caution — he would rather say "I do not know" than risk answering wrongly about the religion of Allah.
