The short version
- Using this site or placing an order means you accept these terms.
- Your order is an offer; the contract is formed when we confirm shipment.
- If a price or description is clearly wrong, we may cancel and refund rather than honor the error.
- Returns, shipping times, and customs charges are covered in our Shipping & Returns policy.
- Texas law governs any dispute, and our liability is limited to what you paid for the item.
These terms govern your use of dar-us-salam.com and any purchase you make from us. Please read them before ordering. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. Our Privacy Policy and Shipping & Returns policy form part of these terms.

1. Who we are
Dar-us-Salam Islamic Bookstore ("Dar-us-Salam," "we," "us," "our") is the United States branch of Darussalam Publishers, serving the Muslim community since 1995 from our retail store and warehouse in Houston, Texas.

2. Acceptance of these terms
By browsing this site, creating an account, subscribing to our newsletter, or placing an order, you agree to these terms. "You" means the person using the site or buying from us; if you are acting for an organization such as a masjid, school, or bookstore, you confirm that you are authorized to bind that organization.
The terms in effect at the time you place an order are the terms that govern that order. We may revise these terms for future orders as described in Section 22.
3. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the involvement of a parent or guardian, to place an order. We sell a great many books for children, but the purchase itself must be made by an adult.
If you create an account, please give accurate information and keep it current, choose a strong password, and keep that password confidential. You are responsible for activity that takes place under your account. Tell us right away if you believe someone else has used it. We may suspend or close an account that is used fraudulently, that repeatedly submits abusive content, or that is used to obtain resale pricing under false pretenses.
4. Products, descriptions, and availability
We work hard to describe our books and products accurately, including binding, page count, script, language, and edition. Even so, publishers change covers, paper stock, and printings without notice, and product photographs are illustrative. Colors may vary between screens, and a cover you receive may differ slightly from the image shown. If a difference matters to your purchase, please call or email us before ordering and we will check the copy on our shelf.
Sets and multi-volume works are sold as complete sets unless the listing says otherwise. Where a listing shows a translator, checker, or publisher, that information is drawn from the printed work itself.
Stock levels shown on the site are our best current estimate, not a guarantee. Occasionally an item sells out between your order and our packing it. If that happens we will contact you promptly with the choice of waiting for a restock, substituting a comparable title, or receiving a refund for that item.
5. Pricing, taxes, and errors
Prices are shown in U.S. dollars unless you switch the currency selector, in which case converted prices are shown for convenience and the transaction is still settled in U.S. dollars at your card issuer's rate. Prices exclude shipping and any applicable sales tax, both of which are calculated and displayed before you confirm your order.
Texas sales tax is applied to orders shipped within Texas. Orders shipped to other states may be taxed where we are required to collect.
Prices, offers, and promotions can change at any time. A change never affects an order we have already accepted.
Errors. Despite our care, a listing may occasionally show an incorrect price, description, or availability. Where an error is obvious and unmistakable, we reserve the right to correct it, and to decline or cancel any order placed at the incorrect price, even after the order is confirmed and payment is taken. If we cancel on this basis we will notify you and refund you in full, promptly and without deduction.
6. Placing an order and order acceptance
Everything on this site is an invitation to order, not a binding offer to sell. When you complete checkout you are making an offer to buy. The automatic email you receive confirms that we have your order; it is not our acceptance of it. A contract is formed when we dispatch the goods and send you a shipment confirmation, and it covers only the items in that shipment.
We may decline an order, in whole or in part, where an item is unavailable, where we cannot verify the payment or shipping details, where the order appears fraudulent, where quantities suggest resale and no reseller account is in place, or where we are unable to ship lawfully to the destination. Declining an order is not a breach of these terms, and any payment taken is refunded in full.
7. Payment
We accept the payment methods shown at checkout, which include major credit and debit cards, digital wallets, and check or money order. Payment is taken when the order is placed. By submitting payment details you confirm that the payment method is yours or that you are authorized to use it.
Card details are handled by our PCI-DSS certified payment processor and are not stored on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for details. If a payment is reversed or charged back without first contacting us, we may suspend the account and recover reasonable costs.
8. Shipping, delivery, and risk of loss
Shipping options, costs, and dispatch times are set out on our Shipping & Returns page. Delivery estimates are estimates only. Once a package leaves us, transit time is in the carrier's hands, and we are not responsible for delays caused by weather, customs, carrier backlogs, or an incorrect address supplied at checkout.
Title and risk of loss pass to you when the carrier takes possession of the package. That said, we want you to receive what you paid for: if a package is lost or arrives damaged, contact us and we will help you file the carrier claim and work with you toward a replacement or refund.
Please inspect your order on arrival and report shipping damage or a missing item within 7 days so we can resolve it while the carrier claim window is still open.
9. International orders, customs, and duties
We ship worldwide. For orders leaving the United States, you are the importer of record. Customs duties, import taxes, VAT, GST, and brokerage fees are set by your country, are not included in our prices, and are your responsibility. We cannot predict these charges, and we cannot mark a shipment as a gift or understate its value on a customs declaration.
If a package is refused, abandoned, or returned to us because import charges were not paid, we will refund the value of the goods less our original outbound shipping and any return shipping charged to us.
Some countries restrict the import of certain books or religious materials. Please check your local rules before ordering; we cannot refund shipments seized or destroyed by a customs authority.
10. Returns, exchanges, and cancellations
Our return and exchange terms, including the return window and how to start a return, are on the Shipping & Returns page and form part of these terms.
If you need to cancel or change an order, contact us as quickly as you can. We dispatch orders promptly, so once a package is packed or handed to the carrier we may not be able to stop it; in that case please use the returns process instead.
For hygiene and safety reasons, opened personal care items, incense and perfume oils, and food or supplement products cannot be returned unless they arrived damaged or defective. Defective books, misprints, and binding faults are always replaced.
11. Wholesale, da'wah, and resale orders
Retail purchases are for personal use, gifts, or free distribution. If you intend to resell our products, or you want bulk pricing for a masjid, school, or da'wah project, please see our Discount for Da'wah & Resellers page and contact us to set up an account. Wholesale orders are governed by the terms of that arrangement in addition to these terms. Tax-exempt organizations must provide a valid exemption certificate before we can remove sales tax.
12. Free downloads and digital materials
We make certain materials available at no charge, including the titles on our Free Islamic PDF Books page and our printable catalogs. These are offered for personal reading and non-commercial da'wah use.
You may read, print, and share these files intact and unaltered. You may not sell them, charge for access to them, remove the publisher's information, or present them as your own work. Copyright in each work remains with its author, translator, or publisher, and some files are provided by third parties under their own terms.
13. Intellectual property
The design of this site, our logo and name, our product photography, our original articles and author biographies, and our catalog descriptions belong to Dar-us-Salam or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. The books and products we sell are the property of their respective authors and publishers.
You are welcome to view and print pages for your own use, to link to us, and to quote briefly from our articles with attribution and a link back. Without our written permission, please do not:
- Republish our catalog descriptions, articles, or photographs on another site or in print;
- Sell, rent, or sub-license material taken from this site;
- Scrape, harvest, or bulk-copy our catalog data or images by any automated means; or
- Use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse or supply you when we do not.
If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, please write to us at [email protected] identifying the work and the page in question, and we will investigate and act promptly.
14. Reviews and content you submit
We welcome honest product reviews and comments. They help other customers, and we read them ourselves.
When you post a review or comment, you confirm that:
- It is your own work and you have the right to post it;
- It does not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, or other rights;
- It is not defamatory, obscene, harassing, or otherwise unlawful; and
- It is not paid promotion, spam, or an advertisement for another business.
You keep ownership of what you write. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, reproduce, and lightly edit your review for length, spelling, or formatting in connection with our store and marketing. You can ask us to remove your review at any time.
Reviews express the opinion of the person who wrote them, not ours. We do not review submissions before they appear, but we may remove anything that breaches these terms. We do not delete reviews merely because they are critical — a negative but honest review of a book stays up.
15. Acceptable use of the site
Please do not:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, accounts, or data;
- Introduce malware, or probe, scan, or stress-test our infrastructure;
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to place orders, harvest content, or bypass our security or rate limits;
- Interfere with the site's operation or with another customer's use of it;
- Place fraudulent orders or use a payment method you are not authorized to use; or
- Frame our pages, or alter their appearance, without our written permission.
Responsible security research is welcome. If you find a vulnerability, please report it to us privately at [email protected] rather than disclosing or exploiting it, and give us a reasonable chance to fix it.
16. Health, herbal, and personal care products
We carry black seed, honey, herbal preparations, and personal care items, and we publish informational articles about their traditional use.
These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Information on our site and in our articles, including material describing the prophetic tradition around foods and herbs, is offered for general interest and is not medical advice. It is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified physician. Please speak to your doctor before using any supplement, particularly if you are pregnant or nursing, taking medication, or managing a health condition. Check the ingredient list on the product itself for allergens.
17. Links to and from our site
Linking to us. You are welcome to link to our home page or to any product, article, or category page, provided the link is not misleading, does not imply that we sponsor or endorse you, and does not appear alongside unlawful or offensive material. Please link using our name or plain web address; use of our logo requires our written permission. We may ask you to remove a link, and we ask that you honor such a request.
Links from us. Our site, blog, and newsletters link to publishers, Islamic organizations, and reference material. Those sites are not under our control. Including a link does not mean we endorse everything on the site, or that we vouch for the scholarly positions expressed there. Once you follow a link you are subject to that site's terms and privacy practices.
If you find a link on our site objectionable, tell us and we will look into it.
18. Disclaimers
We work to keep this site accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available," and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
This disclaimer applies to the website. It does not limit any warranty that comes with a physical product you buy, and it does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer, which vary by state and country and which nothing here is intended to take away.
Our articles, author biographies, and product descriptions are written from an Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah perspective and are offered for general benefit. They are not a fatwa and are not a substitute for asking a qualified scholar about your own situation.
19. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dar-us-Salam is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from your use of this site or from any product purchased through it.
Our total liability arising out of any order is limited to the amount you paid for the item or items giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for fraud, for fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Some states do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
20. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dar-us-Salam, its owners, employees, and suppliers against claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the site, content you post, or your infringement of someone else's rights. We will notify you of any such claim and you may participate in its defense.
21. Governing law and venue
These terms and any dispute arising from them or from your purchase are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
You and Dar-us-Salam agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Harris County, Texas, except that either party may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court.
Before filing anything, please contact us. In our experience almost every problem is a shipping mishap or a misunderstanding, and a phone call resolves it faster and more pleasantly than a court will.
22. General provisions
- Changes. We may update these terms. The revision date at the top shows when. Changes apply to orders placed after they are posted; continued use of the site means you accept the current version.
- Entire agreement. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Shipping & Returns policy, are the whole agreement between us regarding the site and your order.
- Severability. If a court finds any provision unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision on one occasion, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a sale or reorganization of the business.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including carrier disruption, natural disaster, utility or network failure, or government action.
- Headings. Section headings are for convenience and do not affect interpretation.
23. How to contact us
Questions about these terms, or about an order, are always welcome.
