Ten men were told, by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, in a single gathering, that they would enter Paradise. They then went on living for years or decades afterwards — and what they did with that knowledge is the most interesting thing about them.

None of them retired. They fought, governed, traded, gave away fortunes, and wept from fear of Allah with the guarantee already in hand. That is what makes these ten worth studying rather than merely admiring.

The Ten

  • Abu Bakr As-Siddiq — the first to believe, and the first caliph
  • 'Umar ibn Al-Khattab — the standard by which just rule is still measured
  • 'Uthman ibn 'Affan — whose generosity funded the religion at its poorest
  • 'Ali ibn Abi Talib — raised in the Prophet's ﷺ house, and unmatched in courage
  • Talhah ibn 'Ubaydullah — who shielded the Prophet ﷺ with his own body at Uhud
  • Az-Zubayr ibn Al-'Awwam — the Prophet's ﷺ disciple, a believer at fifteen
  • 'Abdur-Rahman ibn 'Awf — who arrived in Madinah with nothing and rebuilt a fortune, then gave it away
  • Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas — the commander who opened Persia
  • Sa'id ibn Zayd — an early believer whose family suffered for it
  • Abu 'Ubaydah ibn Al-Jarrah — the trustworthy man of this Ummah

رضي الله عنهم أجمعين

What Each Chapter Covers

How they came to Islam. What they endured during the years of persecution. The sacrifices they made, and the character that came out under pressure — generosity, courage, leadership, and worship performed when no one was watching. And what each of them left behind in the preservation and spread of the religion.

The lessons drawn are practical rather than decorative: sincerity, patience, humility, justice, and reliance on Allah, each shown in a specific decision a specific man made.

Who It Is For

Families and Islamic schools. Readers who know the ten by name and no further. Study circles — ten chapters makes ten sessions almost by design. Bound as a hardback for the repeated use a family book receives.
