Amr bin Al-Aas (R) The Conqueror of Egypt

'Amr bin Al-'Aas رضي الله عنه used every resource and every skill he had to defeat the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his Companions. He was clever, persuasive and effective, and he was sent as an envoy to Abyssinia specifically to have the Muslim refugees handed back.

But intelligence works in both directions. In time he recognized that he was on the losing side of something larger than a tribal dispute, and that there was nowhere to flee from Allah except toward Him. He came to Madinah and accepted Islam.

After that, the same abilities that had made him a dangerous enemy made him one of Islam's greatest heroes. The Prophet ﷺ showed his full trust in his capability and sincerity by appointing him governor over Oman. Later, as a commander, he led the Muslims in the conquest of Egypt and established a strong state there.
