Magnificence of the Qur'an

روعة القرآن

The Magnificence of the Qur'an gathers what makes the Book of Allah what it is — its miracles and benefits, its characteristics and qualities, the methodology of studying it, and the manners with which it should be approached. Something close to a user's manual for the Qur'an.

Most Muslims own a Qur'an and were never taught how to approach one. They learned to recite it, perhaps to memorize part of it, and then were left to work out on their own what to do with it.

This book fills that gap. It is much like a user's manual: it opens up a body of knowledge and fact about the Qur'an that ought to be common and is not.

What It Covers

  • The miracles of the Qur'an — its inimitability, its preservation, and the challenge it issued that has never been met
  • Its characteristics and qualities — what kind of Book it is, and how it differs from every other
  • The benefits of reciting, memorizing and reflecting on it, from the texts
  • The methodology of studying it — how to read for understanding rather than only for reward
  • The manners of approaching it — the state of heart and body with which it should be opened

How It Works

The topics look miscellaneous at first, and that is deliberate. By working through a series of apparently separate subjects, the author builds a whole picture of the Qur'an that no single-angle treatment produces — and the effect on the reader is a restored sense of what he actually has in his hands.

That is the practical value. A person who has read this opens the Qur'an differently the next morning, which is more than most books about the Qur'an achieve.

Who It Is For

Every Muslim, honestly — but particularly those whose relationship with the Qur'an has become routine, new Muslims establishing one from the start, and students beginning the Qur'anic sciences. Also teachers and parents, who are asked what the Qur'an is and often reach for a definition rather than an answer.

I read other edition of this book. It's very good reading for all laymen, however if someone is well educated in Islam, he could find it boring.
