Golden Stories of Ali bin Abi Talib

Raised in the household of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from childhood, 'Ali رضي الله عنه was among the earliest to embrace Islam — still a boy when he did — and remained one of the Prophet's ﷺ closest Companions for the rest of his life.

He witnessed every stage of the Islamic mission and took part in most of its defining moments. He became renowned for a depth of knowledge in the Qur'an and Sunnah that senior Companions deferred to, for exceptional bravery, and for a grasp of Islamic law that made him the judge people brought their hardest cases to.

The stories gathered here are chosen for what they reveal rather than for chronology. His justice in judgment. His generosity toward the poor, which regularly left him with nothing. His patience through a caliphate marked by division. His courage at Khaybar and elsewhere. His humility despite his standing — he lived simply while governing an enormous state. And his sincerity in worship, much of it performed where nobody could see it.
