Golden Stories of Umar Ibn al-Khattaab (R)

'Umar ibn Al-Khattaab رضي الله عنه accepted Islam during one of the hardest periods of the Prophet's ﷺ mission, and his acceptance changed the situation immediately — the believers gained the strength and confidence to practice openly for the first time.

He remained among the Prophet's ﷺ closest Companions, present at the major events of early Islam, and earned the title Al-Farooq: the one who separates truth from falsehood.

The stories here show what that meant in practice. A caliph governing from Egypt to Persia who slept under a tree and owned almost nothing. A ruler who patrolled Madinah at night and carried flour on his own back to a family he found hungry. A man who feared he would be questioned about a mule stumbling on an unpaved road near the Euphrates — and meant it literally.

Allah honored him with extraordinary wisdom, justice, courage and an unwavering commitment to the Qur'an and Sunnah, and each of those is illustrated here rather than asserted.
