Customer R. on 06/30/2013The Creed of Tahawi is a centuries-old classical Arabic text which codified the beliefs of Islamic Orthodoxy [ahl us-sunnah wal-jama ah]. Based purely on the Holy Quran and the teachings of the Holy Prophet, this creed has been unanimously agreed upon by all Sunni Muslims as the official creed of Islam. Suhaib Hasan is one of the pioneers in translating this noble creed into the English language, may Allah bless him and his family. While the topics covered in this creed are very basic, the study of this creed is an advanced level study, due to its in-depth nature. Each and every line holds very deep meaning, and scholars of the past have done thousands of pages of pure exegesis on this creed. This book presents just the translation, with little to no explanation, which is why I recommend studying this with an expert on aqeedah. There are many good commentaries available, for those who wish to go more in-depth. I would recommend Fundamentals of Islamic Creed, by Syed Iqbal Zaheer, which is translation of an abridgement of a famous commentary on this creed, by Abil-Izz.

"The Muslim Creed" is the English translation of the scholarly work known as Al-Aqidah al-Tahawiya by the famous scholar Abu Ja'far Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Salama al-Tahawi (321 AH). Though this great classical work on creed needs and exhaustive paraphrase like the one in Arabic. This booklet in hand can be made use of by general readers.
