Tafsir Ibn Kathir (تفسیر ابن کثیر) is among the most comprehensive, authentic, and widely relied-upon commentaries on the Noble Qur'an ever written. The method that made it the standard
Ibn Kathir's tafsir is prized for its sound, time-honoured method: explaining the Qur'an first by the Qur'an itself, then by the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, then by the statements of the Companions and the pious predecessors. In this Tahdhib edition, a team of scholars sifted the original, removing weak and fabricated narrations and the Isra'iliyyat (transmissions from earlier scriptures) that a general reader is best kept from, while preserving the depth and richness of the commentary.

About the Author
Al-Hafiz 'Imad ad-Din Abu al-Fida Isma'il ibn Kathir (c. 701–774 AH / c. 1300–1373 CE) was one of the most eminent scholars of hadith, tafsir, and history of his age. Raised and educated in Damascus, he studied under leading authorities including Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and the great muhaddith al-Mizzi.
