Tafsir Ibn Kathir (تفسیر ابن کثیر) is among the most comprehensive, authentic, and widely relied-upon commentaries on the Noble Qur'an ever written. This complete six-volume Urdu edition is the translation of Al-Misbah al-Munir fi Tahdhib Tafsir Ibn Kathir — the carefully authenticated and abridged rendering of the celebrated classic by the great Imam and historian Al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir (rahimahullah).

Ibn Kathir's tafsir is prized for its sound, time-honoured method: explaining the Qur'an first by the Qur'an itself, then by the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam), then by the statements of the Companions and the pious predecessors. In this Tahdhib edition, a team of scholars sifted the original, removing weak and fabricated narrations and the Isra'iliyyat (transmissions from earlier scriptures) that a general reader is best kept from, while preserving the depth and richness of the commentary. Rendered into clear, readable Urdu across roughly 775 pages per volume, it serves as an outstanding reference for the household, the student of knowledge, and the teacher alike.

Readers who value Ibn Kathir's scholarship may also wish to explore his monumental history, Tareekh Ibn Kathir — Al-Bidayah wan-Nihayah. For further Qur'anic study, Dar-us-Salam also offers the clear and concise Urdu: Tafsir As-Sa'di (3 Vols.), the accessible Urdu: Taiseer-ul-Quran (4 Vol. Set), and the widely read Tafheem-ul-Qur'an (6 Vol. Set). A single-volume Qur'an with Urdu translation for daily recitation is available as Al-Qur'an Al-Kareem Lafz ba Lafz Urdu Tarjuma.
