The longest surah in the Quran, published on its own in large type.
Because of what is in it and how often it is used.
It contains Ayat al-Kursi, the greatest verse in the Quran. It ends with the two verses the Prophet ﷺ said suffice a person who recites them at night. And there is the narration that Shaytan flees from a house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited.
It is also a standard memorization project in its own right — a student working on Al-Baqarah is working on it for months, and carrying the whole mushaf for one surah is unnecessary weight.
Fewer lines, larger letters. At 10 lines per page the type is considerably bigger than a standard mushaf, which suits a child learning to read and an elderly reader equally — and it means the extra length of a single-surah volume buys real legibility rather than just spacing.

Also called Persian or Pakistani script, these are the letterforms taught across Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. They differ noticeably from the Uthmani script used in Arab editions, and a reader who learned one finds the other slower — particularly when reciting from memory.
