In our religion the highest ever to be respected and worshipped is Allah. After Him we respect our Prophet ﷺ more than anyone else — and the reason is not sentiment. It is that Allah ordered us to.
Allah told us the Messenger ﷺ was upon an exalted standard of character. Allah and His angels send blessings upon him, and He ordered us to send blessings upon him whenever his name is mentioned — which is why a Muslim child learns to say salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam as a reflex.
The Prophet ﷺ himself said that none of us truly believes until he is dearer to him than anyone else, and that whoever loves him will be with him in Paradise.
Respect and love, not worship. The opening line places him after Allah deliberately, and the book holds that line throughout — honoring the Messenger ﷺ fully while keeping worship for Allah alone.
That balance is the thing worth teaching early, because both errors are easy: neglecting his right, and raising him past the station Allah gave him.
