The most authentic book after the Qur'an
Muslim scholarship has long regarded Sahih Al-Bukhari (صحیح البخاری) as the single most authentic collection of hadith ever compiled, covering almost every aspect of life with guidance from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Before recording any hadith in this book, Imam Bukhari would perform two rak'ahs of prayer seeking Allah's guidance, and only wrote it down once he was certain of its authenticity — a standard of care that took over sixteen years to complete.
How rigorous the selection was
In compiling Al-Jami' as-Sahih, Imam Bukhari examined more than sixty thousand narrations and, after sixteen years of research, selected only those whose genuineness and accuracy he had established beyond the slightest doubt. Deducting duplicates, his collection contains roughly four thousand distinct sayings, spread across the unabridged edition's 7,563 ahadith and some 4,000 pages.
Why this Urdu edition
Tremendous errors exist in translations produced by other publishers. To eliminate that problem, Dar-us-Salam spent years producing this edition, translated into very easy and simple language so that every reader — student or layperson — can understand it without difficulty. Each of the six volumes organizes its ahadith into books (broad topics such as the Book of As-Salat) and chapters, each chapter representing one logical unit of narrations.
