Among the six canonical hadith collections, Sunan An-Nasa'i (سنن نسائی) is regarded as having the fewest weak ahadith after the two Sahih collections themselves. Known as Al-Mujtaba or As-Sunan as-Sughra, it is a synopsis Imam An-Nasa'i drew from a much larger collection of narrations, retaining in the smaller version only those ahadith he considered reliable.

The scholar behind the collection

Compiled by Abu 'Abd ar-Rahman Ahmad ibn Shu'ayb ibn Bahr An-Nasa'i (214–303 AH), who traveled to Baghdad, Ash-Sham, Egypt, Makkah, and many other cities in pursuit of knowledge, the collection earned praise from scholars including Ad-Daraqutni, who said he was given preference over all others known for hadith knowledge in his time. His compilation is widely considered to contain the fewest defective or weak narrations among the four Sunan, and totals 5,761 ahadith.
