A folding wooden book rest — also called a rihal, rahil or tawla — used by students of the Quran for hundreds of years, and predominantly across the Indian subcontinent and wider Asia.
It holds the mushaf open at an angle in front of a seated reader, which is the whole point: hands stay free, the pages stay flat, and the book is never placed directly on the floor.
Reciting from a book held in your lap is uncomfortable within ten minutes and the posture is poor for a long session. A rihal fixes both, and children in particular recite for noticeably longer with one.

Match the stand to the mushaf. A pocket or medium Quran sits fine on the medium stand; a full-size or large-print mushaf needs the XL or XXL, and an oversized mushaf on an undersized stand will not stay open.
