Two subjects in one short book, and the pairing is more deliberate than it looks.

The Creation

How the first man was made — the account as the Qur'an gives it, told at a level a child follows. It is the beginning of every other story he will be told, and having it clearly in place early makes the rest cohere.

The Cruel Joke

The second half addresses something children do constantly and adults rarely treat as serious: the words used while playing and joking.

A joke that stings, a nickname that sticks, a remark made to get a laugh from other children — these produce harsh feelings, and harsh feelings produce quarrels and disputes. The book makes that chain visible, which is more effective than telling a child to be nice.

Why Together

Because the connection is the argument. If a person was made deliberately by Allah, then the boy being laughed at was made deliberately too. A child who has just read how the first man was created is in exactly the right frame of mind to be asked what he says to other people.
