Good Character

Islam stresses the acquiring of good character heavily. Many verses and Ahadith direct Muslims to present good character to others — whether those others are Muslim or not, which is a qualification worth a child noticing early.

Every Setting, Not Some of Them

The book's organizing idea is that good character is not situational. We are to acquire it in all walks of life: while worshipping Allah, while sending blessings on the Prophet ﷺ, while with our parents, while dealing with neighbors and relatives, while with friends, and with those older and younger than us.

Listed like that, the point makes itself. A child who is well behaved at the masjid and difficult at home has not understood the subject, and the structure of this book is what shows him.

Why It Was Published

The publisher states it plainly: these good traits should be taught to the new generation, and this book exists to help parents teach them.

That is the right way to use it — worked through with a child rather than handed over. An index at the back makes it straightforward to take one trait at a time.
