Allah Commands Us to Make Duaa

Children understand dua as asking for things. Then something they asked for does not arrive, and the whole practice quietly loses its meaning for them.

Praying to Allah and supplicating to Him are a necessary part of every act of worship. The Prophet ﷺ went further and said that dua is worship — or, to be exact, the main part of it.

Read that way, a supplication is not a transaction that succeeded or failed. It is the act itself, and it counted the moment it was made.

Why Allah Asks Us to Ask

The book explains something children find genuinely interesting: Allah likes His creatures to worship Him and to pray to Him, because worship and supplication are the practical way a person declares his belief that Allah alone created him and Allah alone is to be worshipped.

It also makes a distinction worth having early. The prescribed acts of worship are the minimum. Supplication is among the easiest ways to go beyond the minimum and draw nearer — available to a child at any moment, requiring nothing.
