60 Golden Hadith for Children

The compiler explains the selection in his introduction, and the reasoning is worth knowing before you hand the book to a child.

Many of the Companions were young boys when they kept company with the Prophet ﷺ, and he taught them about Islam with love and wisdom. From the whole body of Prophetic narration, only those hadith particularly suited to educating children were chosen for this book.

Written to Be Memorized

That is the stated ambition: many boys and girls have already learned these by heart, and a number of schools have taken them into their syllabus. The compiler's own hope is that children and their parents memorize them together — which is the right way to use this book, and better than handing it over and hoping.

Sixty short texts is a realistic target for a school year. Each is authentic and referenced, so what a child commits to memory at eight is something he can quote at thirty.
