What It Sets Out

The essential principles of Islam as they are established in the Noble Quran and the authentic teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — presented directly, with the evidence attached, so a reader can see where a position comes from rather than being asked to accept it.

The Principle Behind It

Its title is its argument. Belief is not something to be assembled from custom, from what a community happens to practice, or from whatever explanation was most persuasive the last time the subject came up. It is taken from two sources, and a Muslim who knows which two can evaluate everything else.

That skill is the real subject of the book. A reader who finishes it is better equipped not because he has memorized a hundred rulings, but because he now asks a different question when he meets a claim: where is this from?
