Why the Title
The book takes its name from Allah’s description of spouses in the Qur’an:
﷽ هُنَّ لِبَاسْ لَّكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لِبَاسْ لَّهُنَّ ﷼ “They are clothing for you, and you are clothing for them.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:187)
Clothing protects, conceals and comforts — and al-Jibaly builds the whole book around what that image actually asks of spouses in the private side of marriage.
What the Book Covers
The book covers the Islamic etiquette of marital intimacy, the emotional and physical rights of each spouse, lawful and prohibited acts, purification (ghusl) after intimacy, rulings on the ’awrah, family planning and birth control, and the dangers of zina. Every ruling is addressed directly and without embarrassment, but within the modesty Islam requires of how these subjects are discussed.
