The Book of Marriage from the Explanation of Bulugh al-Maram, Part Three, by Shaykh Al-'Uthaymeen, is an essential resource for those seeking to understand Islamic rulings and guidance on marriage. It combines scholarly rigor with practical advice.

From the Back Cover: 'Ali and Fatimah

'Ali ibn Abi Talib is the cousin of the Messenger ﷺ. Fatimah is the daughter of the Messenger ﷺ and, as the Prophet ﷺ himself stated, the most prestigious lady in Paradise (may Allah be pleased with her).

Additionally, the Prophet ﷺ said about 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him):

"You are in the same position with relation to me as Aaron (Harun) was concerning Moses — but with this explicit difference, that there is no prophet after me."

The Occasion of the Narration

He said this when he delegated to 'Ali the responsibility of Madinah while the Muslims were away on the Tabuk expedition. 'Ali said: "O Messenger of Allah! You leave me behind with the women and children?" — and the Prophet ﷺ gave the above narration to warm his heart.

It is also because Harun took Musa's place among his people, as Musa said to him:

"Replace me among my people." [Surah Al-A'raf 7:142]

That verse explains the meaning of the statement "you are in the same position with relation to me as Harun was concerning Musa."

Why the Prophet ﷺ Added the Final Clause

Because he feared that someone would misuse the comparison and claim that 'Ali was a prophet as Harun was. So he said: "but with this explicit difference, that there is no prophet after me."

That single addition highlights the immense care the Prophet ﷺ dedicated to protecting the prestige of the Message and the importance of Tawheed. According to the Qur'an and the Sunnah it is well established that he is the last of the Prophets, and there is no prophet after him — and he guarded that principle even in a moment of consoling a beloved companion.
