Allah says of us: "And man was created weak." (Surah An-Nisa 4:28)
That is a statement about design, not an accusation. We were made this way, by the One who made us — which means that failing was always going to happen, and that the response to it was provided before it did.
The Door That Was Left Open
Among the greatest bounties of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is that the door of repentance has been opened so the journey of return can begin. It is a journey traveled by broken hearts, by eyes pouring with tears, and by foreheads lowered to the ground — and it is available to anyone, at any point, for anything.
The people who most need to hear that are usually the ones who have concluded they are past it: the person whose sin feels too large, the one who has repented and relapsed so often that the word has lost meaning to him, the one who has been away so long he assumes the door has closed.
What the Booklet Does
It restores the thing despair takes away, which is the memory that returning is possible. It is short, direct and written to be read at the moment a person is looking for a reason to give up.
Because it is small and inexpensive, it also travels well between people. A great many copies have been handed quietly to someone who needed one.
Who It Is For
Anyone carrying something. Anyone who has stopped praying and does not know how to start again. Imams and counselors, who need something to put in a hand when words have run out. Youth groups. Ramadan reading, when the subject is on everyone's mind anyway.
