The Authentic Musnad of Reasons for the Descending of Revelation is a major scholarly work on Asbaab an-Nuzool — the occasions and circumstances surrounding the revelation of the verses of the Noble Qur'an. As Shaikh Muqbil (rahimahullah) explains, knowing why a verse was revealed is a key that unlocks its meaning; some verses remained difficult to fully grasp until the reason for their revelation became clear.
Why "Authentic" and "Musnad" in the Title
Many classical works on the reasons for revelation gather narrations indiscriminately, weaving together sound, weak and fabricated reports. Shaikh Muqbil, a master of the science of hadith, applied the rigorous standards of the muhaddithoon to this material — sifting the narrations, verifying their chains of transmission, and presenting only those established as authentic.
Arranged in the order of the Qur'an and supported throughout by referenced, authenticated reports, this 453-page edition is a trustworthy, evidence-based reference for the study of Tafsir and the Qur'anic sciences.
