History of Islam 3: Uthman ibn Affan (R)

'Uthman رضي الله عنه was the most qualified man of his time to become Caliph. His claim was valid, his caliphate was legitimate, and he led the people on the path of truth and ruled with justice until he was martyred.

The volume covers the generosity he was known for before the caliphate — funding the expansion of the Prophet's Mosque, buying the well of Rumah and giving it to the Muslims — and then his rule: the expansion of the state, and the standardization of the Quran into the single written form every Muslim reads from today.

The trials of his final years are handled with care, which matters, because this is the period most misrepresented in the material young readers encounter elsewhere.
