Travel First

Most Hajj guides begin at the miqat. This one begins earlier, with the etiquettes and rulings of traveling — which is where the journey actually begins and where a good deal goes wrong before anyone reaches ihram.

The supplications of travel. Shortening and combining prayers on the road. Praying on an aircraft. The rights of a traveling companion. What is expected of a person setting out and what is expected of him when he returns.

A pilgrim is a traveler for two or three weeks, and the rulings that govern travel apply to him for all of it.

The rulings of Hajj and Umrah, set out with the precision Shaykh Ibn Al-'Uthaymin was known for, together with the beneficial points that concern every Muslim on the journey.
