This second volume takes up the Prophet's ﷺ own beginning:
- His lineage and family
- The great signs of the coming of the Prophet ﷺ
- His birth, and the days of his youth
- Prophecies concerning his coming
The material on prophecies and signs is the part most Seerah readers have encountered only in fragments — a hadith here, a reference to an earlier scripture there. Gathered and examined at this length, with the sourcing shown, it reads very differently.
The years of his youth are similarly under-served elsewhere. The period between his birth and the first revelation occupies four decades and is usually summarized in a few pages, which leaves the man who received revelation appearing from nowhere at the age of forty.
About the Encyclopedia
The Hidden Pearls (Al-Lulu Al-Maknoon) is a comprehensive encyclopedia on the life and works of Muhammad ﷺ. The compilers set out to include everything relating to the final Messenger of Allah, neither overlooking nor trivializing a single minor event or secondary fact, and chronicling every incident from his birth to his death.
Each event was thoroughly researched, examined and vetted by a thirteen-member committee, then written in an easy, flowing style. The work is deliberately impersonal and objective in its technical matters and in its research methodology.
Please note: this is not a translation of the four-volume Arabic work of the same name. It is a new work compiled by Darussalam, originally in Urdu, and now being translated into other languages.
Printed in full color on glossy paper, illustrated with pictures and maps.
