The seerah that won the world's biggest prize for it
In 1976, the Muslim World League convened the first International Conference on the Seerah in Pakistan and announced a worldwide competition: write the best biography of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, with a prize of SAR 150,000 for the top five entries. Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum (الرحیق المختوم) — "The Sealed Nectar", written by Shaykh Safi-ur-Rahman Al-Mubarakpuri of Jami'ah Salafiyyah, Banaras (India), won first prize.
Why it won
The manuscript was judged for the authenticity and soundness of its narration — every event in the Prophet's ﷺ life, from his lineage through the full span of his mission and the spread of Islam, supported by Qur'anic verses and reliable historical sources rather than embellished retelling. That same rigor is what has made it the standard single-volume seerah recommended by teachers worldwide ever since.

"سیرت نگاری کے عالمی مقابلہ میں اول نمبر پر آنے والی نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی سیرتِ طیبہ پر ایک جامع اور بہترین کتاب"۔ الرحیق المختوم ایک خزانہ ہے اور پیغمبر اسلام ﷺ کی زندگی پر قابلِ تعریف کتاب ہے۔ یہ کتاب جامعہ سلفیہ، بنارس (انڈیا) کے ممتاز شیخ صفی الرحمن مبارک پوری نے لکھی اور عالمی سیرت مقابلے میں پہلا انعام جیتا۔ سیرت پر پہلی اسلامی کانفرنس 1976 میں مسلم ورلڈ لیگ کے زیرِ اہتمام پاکستان میں منعقد ہوئی۔ لیگ نے پیغمبر اسلام ﷺ کی زندگی پر کتاب لکھنے کے لیے دنیا بھر میں مقابلے کا اعلان کیا۔ حضرت محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم پر یہ سیرت ان کے نسب، ان کی زندگی کے پورے عرصے کے ساتھ ساتھ اسلام کے پھیلاؤ پر محیط ہے۔ متن کو قرآنی آیات کی مدد سے لکھا گیا ہے۔
