Two things determine what a bottle of black seed oil is actually worth: where the seed came from, and how many times it was pressed.
Pressed Once
The seeds are squeezed a single time using cold press technology, which is what virgin means. Second and third pressings extract more oil from the same seed at the cost of the delicate compounds, and heat extraction costs more still.
Nothing is added — no carrier oils, no additives, no preservatives.
Where the Seed Grows
Seed quality is determined by climate and soil, which is why the origin is worth stating. These seeds have been grown for centuries by a small community of farmers and herbal doctors in the fertile tropical delta floodplain of the Himalayas, using organic traditional farming methods.
The result is a distinctive taste, smell and color — and a noticeable difference from mass-produced oil if you have tried both.
A Word on Taking It
It is strong. Peppery, bitter and warming at the back of the throat. Taking it with honey, or mixed into food, makes it considerably more pleasant, and anyone who cannot manage the taste at all should look at the capsules or the honey blends instead.
Store away from heat and direct sunlight.
