Traducción-Comentario Del Noble Corán, translated by Abdel Ghani Melara Navio, is a Spanish-only translation and commentary of the complete Qur’an, drawn from traditional commentaries including Al-Jalalayn, Ibn Kathir and At-Tabari, with particular attention to the Andalusian commentaries of Al-Qurtubi and Ibn Juzayy Al-Kalbi Al-Gharnati.
Why the Andalusian Commentaries
Melara Navio, himself a Spanish convert to Islam, drew specifically on commentators from Muslim Spain — Al-Qurtubi and Ibn Juzayy chief among them — whose explanations were themselves shaped by a Spanish-Arabic linguistic tradition, giving the translation a register that reads naturally to a Spanish speaker rather than as a word-for-word rendering from Arabic.
