What Makes It Work
Imam An-Nawawi selected roughly two thousand narrations from Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah, and arranged them by subject rather than by source.
That single decision is why it has been read continuously for seven centuries. It serves equally as a hadith primer and as a daily reader — a reader with a question finds the chapter, and a reader with none can open it anywhere.

L'Imam An-Nawawi a sélectionné environ deux mille hadiths tirés des six grands recueils — Boukhari, Mouslim, Abou Dawoud, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasa'i et Ibn Majah — et les a classés par thème plutôt que par source.
C'est ce choix qui explique sa lecture ininterrompue depuis sept siècles : il sert aussi bien de manuel d'initiation au hadith que de lecture quotidienne. Les sujets couvrent la sincérité d'intention, la dépense dans la voie d'Allah, le jeûne, la quête du savoir, et l'ensemble des bonnes manières.
