Farsi: Ghayatul-Murid

Kitab At-Tauhid by Shaykh Muhammad bin Abdul-Wahhab is the foundational work on Islamic monotheism and the text most commonly set as a first serious study in creed.

It is also short and dense. The Shaykh states a principle and then lets the Quran and the authentic Sunnah carry the argument, with very little explanation of his own — which is deliberate, and which is why the book has always been studied with a commentary beside it.

What This Commentary Does

Chapter by chapter, it opens up the verses, narrations and statements of the early scholars that the original author cited — explaining why each was chosen, what it establishes, and how the argument of the chapter is built from them.

It gives particular attention to shirk in its open and hidden forms, and to bid'ah, since those are the subjects the original text is largely concerned with. A reader who found the bare text terse will find here what the Shaykh assumed his students already knew.
