Why An-Nawawi's
Imam An-Nawawi was a leading Shafi'i scholar known for precision and for an unusual gift of compression — he says what needs saying and stops, which in a commentary spanning several thousand narrations is a considerable service to the reader.
He explains each hadith with its context, sets out the rulings derived from it, resolves the linguistic difficulties, and addresses the theological and juristic questions the narration raises — all according to the methodology of Ahlus Sunnah wal-Jama'ah.
