Al-Aqidah Al-Wasitiyyah by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah is short enough to read in an hour and dense enough to study for a year. It states the creed of Ahlus Sunnah completely, without vagueness, and without a claim that is not carried by the Qur'an or the Sunnah.

What Is Covered
The commentary works through the foundations of Islamic belief according to the way of the righteous predecessors: Tawhid, the Names and Attributes of Allah as revelation affirms them, faith in the Messengers, the Last Day, and Qadar.

Shaykh Al-Fawzan explains rather than displays. For an Arabic reader approaching the Wasitiyyah for the first time, or a teacher wanting a text he can work through with a class, this is among the most usable of the many commentaries written on it.
