Two Design Decisions Worth Noticing

The layout allows an adult to point at the text without obscuring any of the picture — so a child can enjoy the illustration and learn sight words at the same time, instead of choosing between them.

And it is a durable board book with pages at exactly the right size for tiny hands to hold and turn, which develops motor skills and, more importantly, builds a fondness for books at the age when that is decided.

Sh. Soosi explains why she writes for children: when Islam is conveyed in a complicated way, it is a major turn-off for them. They come away with the feeling that if learning Islam is hard, it is not for them.

That single observation explains the whole approach here — short, rhyming, visual, and pitched at a toddler rather than at an adult's idea of what a toddler should manage.
