While there are many well-written books on Salat in Arabic and Urdu, English-speaking readers often find a lack of resources that are both comprehensive and easy to follow. Existing English literature on Salat tends to fall into one of two extremes: either too brief to cover essential aspects adequately, or overly detailed, making it difficult for readers to use as a practical guide or quick reference.
Additionally, much of the available material lacks direct reference to authentic sources from the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Some books cite practices without providing clear evidence, while others are written from the perspective of specific schools of thought, which can make readers hesitant to follow them.
"A Guide to Salat" was created to fill this gap — a medium-sized, accessible book based on the authentic teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who said: “Pray as you have seen me praying.” Our aim was to present all the essential elements of Salat in a straightforward, balanced way — avoiding both over-complication and oversimplification — making it suitable for use at home, during travel, or as a handy reference.
This book has been carefully written in clear, simple English, making it especially helpful for new Muslims and those unfamiliar with Arabic or Urdu. In cases where differences in practices were found among various sources, we consulted authentic Ahadith to clarify the correct method based on the Prophet’s example.
