Two Sections
The first section focuses on the women closest to the Prophet ﷺ: his blessed wives (the Mothers of the Believers), his daughters, granddaughters, paternal aunts, cousins, foster mothers, foster sisters, and distinguished female Companions.
The second section is adapted from the renowned biographical encyclopedia of Ibn Hajar Al-'Asqalani, arranged alphabetically to introduce a wider range of notable women from the earliest generations of Islam — and, reflecting the breadth of the original historical sources, even includes accounts of believing women from among the jinn as preserved in classical Islamic literature.
Why These Biographies Are Preserved in Such Detail
Because the women of the first generation were not peripheral to the events of early Islamic history — they were scholars, narrators of hadith, participants in emigration and hardship, and in some cases advisors whose counsel shaped major decisions. Khadijah رضي الله عنها supported the Prophet ﷺ at the very beginning of his mission. 'A'ishah رضي الله عنها became one of the most prolific narrators of hadith in the entire tradition.
