It is the duty of each and every Muslim to give da'wah.

The speaker advises the listeners to build bridges of da'wah, or bridges of understanding. If the gaps in the invitation to Islam are not bridged, then how can one expect results from those efforts? This is a presentation that should empower and inspire the listener to reflect on how they can contribute to this mission.

What a Gap Looks Like in Practice

A Muslim community that has been in a town for thirty years and whose neighbors have never been inside the masjid. A leaflet handed to someone who has no reason to read it. An answer to a question nobody asked, delivered in vocabulary the listener does not share.

Each of those is effort expended across a gap rather than over a bridge, and the result is the same: nothing.

Why Bridges Take Longer and Work Better

Because a bridge is a relationship, and relationships are built before they are needed. The people most likely to listen to what you believe are the ones who already know you — and building that connection is slow, unglamorous work that produces no measurable output for a long time.

Which is precisely why it gets skipped in favor of activities that feel like da'wah and reach nobody.

About Yasir Qadhi

Yasir Qadhi was born in Houston, Texas, and completed his primary and secondary education in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He graduated with a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, after which he was accepted as a student at the Islamic University of Madinah. He completed a diploma in Arabic and then went on in the Islamic sciences.

The engineering background is visible in how he lectures — the arguments are structured, the definitions come first, and he tends to show his working rather than deliver conclusions.
