Because it does not ask the listener to accept a claim on faith. It sets the systems beside one another — what each one promises, what each one has actually produced — and lets the comparison make the argument.
For a non-Muslim listener that is a very different experience from being told what to believe. For a Muslim listener it supplies the arguments he has probably felt but never been able to articulate.

A substantial part of the lecture rests on figures rather than assertion, which is what gives it its force. The numbers on inequality, on social breakdown and on the record of the ideologies that promised most are the part audiences tend to remember.
