Imam An-Nawawi’s forty hadith are a concise selection of authentic narrations from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that state the most fundamental principles of Islam, drawn mostly from the two most reliable hadith collections, Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. The collection has been studied generation after generation in circles of Islamic learning and continues to be explained by scholars today.
The Arabic text is read by Hamad ad-Durayhem, followed by a Spanish translation narrated by Muhammad Isa Garcia — letting the listener hear the Prophet’s ﷺ own words before the Spanish rendering, so repeated listening builds both memorization and understanding.
Abu Zakariyya Yahya ibn Sharaf An-Nawawi was born near Damascus in 631 AH (1233 CE). He completed his study of the Qur’an at an early age and became one of the most recognized Islamic scholars of his era, authoring numerous works across the Islamic sciences — most famously his commentary on Sahih Muslim, the hadith collection Riyad-us-Saliheen, and the Forty Hadith presented on this recording. He passed away in 676 AH at the age of forty-five.
