Arabic: Mukhtasar Tafsir Fateh Al-Qadeer

Fath Al-Qadir is one of the great works of Qur'anic commentary, and one of the hardest to place on a shelf. Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Ash-Shawkani (1173–1250 AH) built it to do two things at once — gather the transmitted reports of the earlier exegetes, and subject the language of each verse to close analysis — and the result runs to several substantial volumes.

The combination. An abridgement that dropped either half would have produced a different book, and this one retains the transmitted material and the linguistic treatment together, trimming the extended discussion of variant opinions that a specialist needs and a general reader does not.
