"Mummy, what do I say if I want to go to Jannah?"

Zayd asks the question at the bottom of a wintry mountain path, and then spends the climb trying to answer it himself. Each attempt gets a comment from his mother. Each time she teaches him new words of remembrance. And each time she declines to simply tell him.

Why the Withholding Is the Point

A mother who answers immediately produces a child who has heard an answer. A mother who lets him keep trying produces a child who has thought about it for the length of a mountain — and who will remember what he arrived at.

That is a lesson for the adult reading aloud as much as for the child listening.

What He Learns Along the Way

Several words of remembrance, introduced as he needs them rather than presented as a list — so a child finishes the book having picked up genuine adhkar without noticing that he was being taught any.

Will He Find It?

You have to join mother and son at the mountain peak to find out — and whether it turns out to be as simple as he expected.
