A special light-weight slim Qur'an with 22 lines per page instead of the normal 15. The complete Mushaf runs to 247 pages instead of 605, because every juz is covered in eight pages rather than twenty — each two-page spread holding a quarter of a juz.

This edition is large at 7 x 9.5 inches — the practical size for home use and travel, and considerably lighter than a standard mushaf.

Why the Layout Exists

It is named for the night prayer, and the reasoning follows from that. Someone praying tahajjud recites long passages standing, often for an hour or more, and every page turn is an interruption.

Fitting a quarter juz onto a two-page spread means far fewer turns, and it gives the reciter an overall view of the ayat and the Quranic text — helping him hold the context and the meaning across a long passage rather than seeing it fifteen lines at a time.

The reduced page count also makes it genuinely light. A slim book held open through a long qiyam is a different experience from a 605-page mushaf.

The Trade-Off Worth Knowing

The page breaks do not match a standard mushaf. Anyone memorizing from a 15-line copy should not switch to this one, because visual recall is built on where a passage sits on the page.

This is a mushaf for reciting at length, not for hifz.

The Script

Obvious script — spaced out, with clear separation between words, which is what makes 22 lines legible rather than cramped.

The Color-Coded Tajweed System

Dar Al Maarifah's editors grouped the letters phonologically and gave each group its own printed color:

  • Red — letters requiring extended vocalization (madd)
  • Green — nasalized letters (ghunnah, ikhfa, idgham)
  • Dark blue — the emphatic ر (raa')
  • Light blue — qalqalah, the echoing letters
  • Gray — letters written but left unpronounced

Twenty-four tajweed rules are applied this way, leaving the reader's attention free for the meaning of the verse rather than the mechanics of the recitation.

Every Tajweed Qur'an in This Range Includes

  • Color-coded letters presenting the rules of tajweed visually
  • Uthmani script following the Madinah standard
  • Interpretation of selected words on the page margins
  • High-quality printing on fine paper

Note: the cover color may differ depending on current stock.

Mushaf Tahajjud Editions

A different page layout entirely: 22 lines per page instead of 15, putting a quarter of a juz across every two-page spread. Both editions carry the same text and layout, differing only in size.

Awesome, simply awesome. I was very glad to come across this webshop trying to find a mushaf with 22 lines a page. It makes reading The Qur'an way easier for me, and for those struggling to read surah Al-Kahf every friday, I'd suggest buying one. I'm not entirely sure why, but reading it through a mushaf with more lines a page (meaning lesser pages per surah) makes it go by faster, which might motivate more!
