What are the causes of not taking heed of Allah's commandments? This presentation answers that question, and its purpose is to spark thoughts and energies with regard to sincerely applying the revelation and fully surrendering to Allah.
Because almost nobody disputes the commandments. The gap is not between belief and disbelief; it is between knowing what is required and doing it — and that gap exists in people whose faith is entirely sincere.
Asking what causes it is more useful than restating the obligation. A person who already agrees does not need to be convinced; he needs to understand why agreement has not translated into action.
Submission. The word at the center of the religion is the thing the lecture is about, and taking it literally — full surrender rather than negotiated partial compliance — changes what the standard looks like.
Muhammad Alshareef was born in 1975 and raised in Canada. In his youth he memorized the Quran, and he later graduated with a degree in Islamic Law from the Islamic University of Madinah, class of 1999. He founded the AlMaghrib Institute, which has since taught tens of thousands of students across North America and Britain.
His delivery is narrative rather than expository — he tells the story and lets the point arrive through it, which is why his lectures hold an audience that would not sit through a lecture.
