Thousands of Muslim prisoners — many of whom accepted Islam while incarcerated — have the time and determination to study their faith but not the means, often earning around forty-five cents a day. The Prison Fund sends Qur'ans and authentic Islamic literature directly to inmates who ask for exactly these books and cannot afford them.

Forty-five cents a day doesn't buy a Qur'an

Thousands of Muslim prisoners — many of whom accepted Islam while incarcerated — have the time, the will, and the determination to study their faith, but not the means. Dar-us-Salam already offers a 25% discount to incarcerated students, and still, on wages that often amount to around forty-five cents a day, most cannot afford authentic Islamic literature. The Prison Fund exists to close that gap directly.

What your donation does

Your contribution helps send Qur'ans, authentic hadith collections, and other Islamic literature to inmates who write to Dar-us-Salam asking for exactly these books and cannot pay for them. You can donate your Zakat to this fund, and it can serve as Sadaqatun Jariyah — a continuous charity — for you, since spreading beneficial knowledge is one of the three things that keep benefiting a person after death.

Prison Library Program

Dar-us-Salam has also initiated a program providing $500 worth of Islamic books — including Qur'an and Hadith — to prison libraries, selected based on the inmates' own requests through their chaplain. You can sponsor one or more libraries in your own name, or in memory of a living or deceased parent or loved one, as Sadaqah Jariyah.

Note: Dar-us-Salam is not a non-profit organization; this fund supports a specific program of book donations to incarcerated Muslims.

A Letter from a Prison Chaplain

"Dear Dar-us-Salam Publications Team, I hope this email finds you well. On behalf of the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Eagleville, Pennsylvania, I extend our deepest gratitude for your recent donation of books for our religious library. Your generosity will undoubtedly make a significant impact on the lives of the individuals within our facility, particularly our Muslim community members. Your donation not only enriches our religious library but also serves as a beacon of hope and positivity within the correctional environment... Access to religious literature and resources not only facilitates their spiritual development but also promotes personal transformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration into society upon their release." — Kevin Bone, Prison Chaplain, MCCF
