Our youth need to know what the religion is based upon and where they can attain correct information about it. They also need to understand the role of the Sahabah in preserving and understanding the Quran and the Sunnah.
The light of Tawheed, when it enters the heart, makes the truth clear. That some people worship rats, young girls and man-made gods amazes a young mind — and that amazement is itself instructive.
Because a young person today receives answers about Islam from a search engine, a video, a friend and a family member, all with equal apparent authority and none with a chain behind it.
Establishing that the religion rests on revelation — and that revelation reached us through identifiable people whose reliability was examined — gives him a way to sort what he is told. Without that, he is choosing between opinions.
The lecture also addresses subjects young Muslims meet constantly and are rarely given clear guidance on, including boyfriend-and-girlfriend relationships and questions of sexuality. May Allah protect our children.
Teenagers and young adults, and the parents and youth workers who would rather these subjects were addressed properly than picked up elsewhere.
