Because the subject is a continuous journey rather than a set of separate topics. Taken in order, the lectures follow one soul from the last ordinary day of a life all the way through — and the cumulative effect is quite different from hearing any one of them alone.
The two lectures on innovations are worth noting. Practices around death and the grave are where cultural additions accumulate most heavily in Muslim communities, and where families are least willing to be corrected. Addressing them inside the series, rather than as a separate lecture nobody attends, is a deliberate choice.
