Weekend school starts in a few weeks

By Ramadan, they could be reading it themselves.

Assalamu alaikum,

Most people who want to read the Qur'an in Arabic never start — not because it is too hard, but because nobody hands them a first page and a second page and a third. Al-Bayan is that sequence. Twenty-eight letters on page one. Full Qur'anic ayat by the end. One hundred twenty-eight pages in between, every one of them in color.

Ramadan is about six months out. That is enough time, if you begin now.

Look inside before you decide

A reading book lives or dies on its page design. Here is what the interior actually looks like — large 8 × 11″ pages, full color throughout, generous letter sizing for young eyes.

The path from letter to ayah

Nothing is skipped and nothing is introduced before the student is ready for it.

1 The alphabet — all 28 letters, isolated and clear.
2 Makharij — where each letter is formed in the mouth and throat.
3 Letter forms — how each one changes at the beginning, middle and end of a word.
4 Harakat — fathah, kasrah, dammah, and the sounds they carry.
5 Sukoon, Shaddah, Tanween — joining letters into real syllables.
6 Madd rules — the elongations that give recitation its rhythm.
7 Words, then full ayat — reading the Book of Allah, with exercises at every stage.

In Arabic, a small error in pronunciation can change the meaning of a word entirely. That is the whole reason this stage matters so much — habits formed in the first weeks are the habits a person keeps for decades. Al-Bayan is built to set those habits correctly the first time, before a student ever opens a formal Tajweed text or begins Hifz.
